Lol, wish I could tell you entirely, but from what I understand it's going to allow the uninsured to get insured. Or something like that. :)

Um, it's basically turning our health care system into what Canada and the UK kind of have right now. From my knowledge, there will be free public health insurance for those who couldn't afford it before. The only thing is, it's going to ruin the health care we have now because, I believe, it all used to be private. You would pay for a health insurance plan, and there are private companies with varying rates and coverage.

Apparently, the waiting list to be seen by a doctor in the countries with public health care are ridiculous. People with a slight cough or fever would be seen before those with severe conditions like cancer, for instance. This is why a lot of people (including the leaders of countries with free health care) would travel allllll the way to America for care, because they could be treated right away.

Just recently, I heard the President of Canada was HERE getting medical help. All while this bill was trying to be passed.

In short, it's going to turn our health care system to shit, like the rest of the world, and the tax payers are the ones who will have to pay for the "free" health care, and under Obama, the middle to upper classes are hit the worst with taxes because they're supposed to "share the wealth" and support everyone else (that's a whole other rant).

A lot of liberals (democrats) are upset about the bill, and while we really DO need a health care overhaul, this bill is doing everything wrong to work toward that. What really needed to be addressed was allowing people with preexisting conditions to be covered under private insurance, which is the major problem, not those who "can't afford it." IMO, if you can't afford to keep you and your family healthy, you are doing something WRONG and should fix that yourself.

That got long, sorry.

And to clarify, I identify with neither party, I'm an Independent. This bill just angers the shit out of me.

wrong

wrong

wr- oh hell it's halfway right. but you're completely ignoring medicare. which is socialized medicine. yes it is socialized medicine for old people. the socialest of socialists.

Apparently, the waiting list to be seen by a doctor in the countries with public health care are ridiculous.

depends on the country and why you're going to the doctor and if your condition is life-threatening or not

People with a slight cough or fever would be seen before those with severe conditions like cancer, for instance.

wrong

wrong. and source please. also why do rich americans travel to other countries for health care.

Just recently, I heard the President of Canada was HERE getting medical help. All while this bill was trying to be passed.

source please

In short, it's going to turn our health care system to shit, like the rest of the world,

wrong. other countries have demonstrably better healthcare systems.

and the tax payers are the ones who will have to pay for the "free" health care, and under Obama, the middle to upper classes are hit the worst with taxes because they're supposed to "share the wealth" and support everyone else (that's a whole other rant).

wrong. ish. will raise excise tax on middle class. basically if you have a fancy-ass insurance plan it will be taxed. a bloo bloo, rich people will suffer

taking a chunk out of $10 million+ HURTS SO BAD I TELL YOU. those poor rich ppl

A lot of liberals (democrats) are upset about the bill, and while we really DO need a health care overhaul, this bill is doing everything wrong to work toward that.

some left-leaning liberals are annoyed because the bill does suck but not in the ways you think it does

What really needed to be addressed was allowing people with preexisting conditions to be covered under private insurance, which is the major problem, not those who "can't afford it."

the bill does address that you colossal fuckup. starting immediately children cannot be denied insurance based on pre-existing conditions, and in 2014 the same applies to adults, simple facts you would know if you actually followed the debate and read the fucking bill

IMO, if you can't afford to keep you and your family healthy, you are doing something WRONG and should fix that yourself.

ah yes. dem bootstraps. those lazy poor ppl should just pull themselves up by bootstraps exactly like you did. of course you earned all your money, it's not like you and other americans inherit large chunks of wealth from their families. it's not like we have centuries of racism and classism built into the institutions of our country, that make class mobility incredibly difficult. there are SOME rich black ppl and poor people who became success stories so obviously everyone can juts bootstrap their way to the glory of american wealth~

i mean for crying out loud you're supposedly an educated college student and yet you're demonstrably wrong on pretty much everything. but you have no problem spreading this misinformation around like a monkey smearing its feces on a wall

next time try google

There's a lot of good and bad to it, but really...as someone losing their health insurance next month because her severe depression won't allow her to attend college anymore, meanwhile the insurance company says, "Oh, hey, fuck you, if you're not in college we're not covering you anymore," and you can't get medicine or therapy or any sort of help for it because, hey, you're losing your insurance...I'm not exactly against this happening. Yes, things will be bad, but things will be good, too, and only time is going to tell on this one.
